Mr. Kirtley graduated from The University of South Carolina gaining a degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in graphic design. After moving to Los Angeles, he worked for the Tonight Show until he landed an Assistant Art Director position at RVL packaging. There he designed labels and hangtags for various clothing companies. Desperate to show off his creative ability and unique style, he freelanced designing marketing materials for Geffen and Maverick Records. After just a year at RVL, assisting the Art Director, he worked his way from entry level designer to a Junior Designer. James then made a career move. He soon after became an Art Director at Security Printing for two and a half years. He then jumped to Fortune Casuals after another two and a half years to art direct all the screen printed tees to be manufactured for Wal Mart. This was where he gained a vast knowledge of the screenprinting industry.

James is presently working as a freelance artist and is the Creative Director of JMK Designs, where he works directly with clothing designers from some of the largest manufacturers and licensees. He is also working with some of the top Movie production companies designing movie posters, email blasts and social media posts for such companies as the Weinstein Company.
